Nice to meet you!
My name is Jenn
Once Upon a Time There Was a Little Girl Who Wanted to Change the World.
ME! That “little girl” was ME!
How was I going to change the world? What did I want to be when I grew up?
GOOD QUESTIONS, RIGHT??? The truth is, I had no idea. But somehow, I knew I’d find the answers!
Sooooo…my personal journey to wellness began in my mom’s kitchen, when I cooked my first meal at age 9. I experimented with different foods from the family garden, putting together my own tasty recipes. Some of them I wish I had patented, because a few years later some BIG NAME FOOD COMPANY came out with my version of cheddar broccoli…but that’s a story for another time!
I watched my mom’s parents “put up” the jarred foods from their own garden – peaches, tomatoes, beans, peppers…you name it – a virtual rainbow of mason jars lined the shelves in their basement, because home grown and homemade beat any can sale at the Big Box Grocery Stores hands down. Years later, I heard a song about canned goods, and it took me right back to that basement kitchen – the smells of fresh summer peaches, the shiny glass jars, the taste of tomatoes and basil…mmmm…
I followed my other Grandpa as he puttered around his kitchen, whistling a Sinatra tune while making the best Sunday Sauce and eggplant parm you could ever imagine!
A bit down the road, I learned about chemical ingredients in food in my Aunt’s kitchen. She explained to me how toxins in food built up in our organs. I listened. And read labels with her. And I tucked the information away in the looseleaf binder of my mind.
These lessons – in my Mom’s and Grandparents and Aunt’s kitchen – never left me and formed the foundation of what I later learned to be true – that wellness – REAL wellness – starts with what we feed our bodies.
That’s where it starts, but that’s not where it ends. Because wellness is holistic – mind, body, and spirit.
As a child, I asked questions – LOTS of questions. Sometimes the answers made sense; other times, they didn’t…so then came more questions.
But mostly, I just watched. Because the answers that made the most sense were the ones that lay beneath the questions – in observation of the world around me, in application of what was learned along the way.
You shouldn’t be surprised to find that I loved detective novels, and challenged myself to figure out the ending before the end…and you shouldn’t be surprised to find out that I grew up to be an adult who still challenges herself to find the answers that lie beneath the questions.
So….what REALLY got me started on this journey? Really REALLY?
It was a drive to share what I learned with others. To help them on THEIR journey to discover a better way to take control of their own lives – to find natural, workable, home-based solutions for health and wellness. To find answers to mental stability and spiritual growth.
For me, it wasn’t good enough to JUST learn this for myself – because really, what is the use of all that knowledge if you can’t help others even as you help yourself? Is it enough to just help your family and friends? What is the best way to get this information out in a BIG way…to make those changes that the little girl in me wanted to make?
More questions! But I was closing in on answers!
Out of this desire to HELP, JennXTalks and Investigative Wellness was born! Questioning, exploring, navigating through a sea of misinformation to get to simple, workable solutions that sometimes are right before our eyes.
Finally, my life has come full circle – and I’ve found that as an adult, I now have a career where I coach others so they, too, can claim the life they so richly deserve.
I AM AN INTEGRATIVE NUTRITION HEALTH COACH!
In addition to being a Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I have a B.A. in English Literature/Minor in Communications, which helps me in every day interactions with others. Twenty-five years of practical experience in holistic living using homeopathy, natural supplements, essential oils, and cleaning eating to help my family and others support their bodies for optimal health conditions has been quite a learning journey. I also successfully built and maintained two other businesses while raising my children and caretaking for the family pets – which taught me the value of persistence and perseverance.
And here we are…
…and I’m thrilled and honored to be here with all of you. Together we CAN and WILL change the world – one baby step at a time!
*When not with clients, I can be found creating culinary delights in the kitchen, reading up on all the latest health, wellness, and nutrition news, and listening to whatever tune moves me at that particular moment.. I’m a wife, daughter, and mom to four humans and a whole variety of other living creatures.
And I’m here to help you.
